FIELD: poultry farming, in particular, cage keeping of laying hens. SUBSTANCE: method involves keeping poultry in batteries with illumination lamps providing for intermittent illumination mode. Illumination lamps are positioned above passages between batteries so that they illuminate each second passage between batteries. Batteries are mounted in such a way that their egg-collecting bands extend through darkened passage. EFFECT: increased efficiency by reduced power consumption and reduced number of illumination lamps used in illumination system, increased retention and egg yield. 2 dwg, 2 tbl
