FIELD: scrubbing gases. SUBSTANCE: gas which comprises nitrogen compounds and oxygen are brought into contact with mixture of two catalysts, the process takes place in the presence of ammonia at 290-400 C. One of said catalysts comprises vanadium pentoxide (its quantity is 6-9 mass %) being supported on aluminum oxide (its quantity is 91-94 mass %). Other catalyst comprises vanadium pentoxide (its quantity is 6-9 mass %) and copper oxide (its quantity is 3-5 mass %) being supported on aluminum oxide (its quantity is 86-91 mass %). Ratio of mentioned above catalysts is (1-3):1. Degree of scrubbing gases against nitrogen oxide is 90-100 %. EFFECT: improved efficiency of the method. 10 tbl
