FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: hydrogen sulfide-containing gases are subjected for thermal oxidation at 1000-1300 C, gas is cooled up to 150-300 C, and condensate of sulfur formed is isolated. After cooling gas is fed to the stage of catalytic interaction of prepared NH3 with SO2 in the presence of homogeneous catalyst in the liquid phase in the medium of aqueous solution of phosphates and ammonium thiosulfate. Solution of aluminium and/or silicon oxides or hydroxides in hydrofluoric acid at concentration H2S is used as a catalyst. HCN feeding to the solution at ratio 1·10-3 - 2·10-1 mole/l = 2-5 converts to the nontoxic compound S°/CN- =2 - 5. Method is used for reprocessing of hydrogen sulfide-containing gases, preparing of elemental sulfur mainly in the processes of hydrogen sulfide treatment in coke oven composition and containing impurities of HCN and NH4CNS. EFFECT: simplified method of sulfur producing. 2 cl, 3 dwg, 1 tbl
