FIELD: nondestructive testing of materials of articles by signals of acoustic emission, quality inspection and diagnostics of technical state if tested object. SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for design of flaw detector allowing type of defect and stages of its development to be determined by spectral components of acoustic emission with increase of signal-to-noise ratio. Flaw detector isolates maximum of spectral density of analyzed signal and determines type of defect, namely, plastic deformation, microcrack or development of microcrack with formation of through crack by frequency corresponding to this maximum in agreement with dependence found in advance. Apart from this sensitivity of test increases thanks to suppression of signals with frequencies not carrying information on defect, that is noises.
