FIELD: mechanical engineering; exhaust gas cleaning devices. SUBSTANCE: in proposed method of cleaning, diesel engine exhaust gases are passed through channel 36a of ceramic housing 36 and electric field is induced across direction of gas flow in channel 36a. Soot particles settling on walls of channel 36a are oxide by free ions of oxygen. Electric field strength os selected within preset limits with due account of geometry of section of channels for exhaust gases. EFFECT: improved cleaning of exhaust gases. 13 cl, 5 dwg
