FIELD: industrial organic syntheses. SUBSTANCE: invention concerns catalystless methods for preparing methyl chloride by liquid-phase interaction of hydrogen chloride methanol and may be applied on a large scale. Invention is aimed at increasing hydrogen chloride conversion, lowering temperature and pressure. The aim is achieved when interaction of reactants is conducted in absence of catalyst to produce in reaction zone organic and water constituents of reaction mixture, and methyl chloride is separated from organic constituent, the reactants being entered into reaction zone in countercurrent and water constituent being withdrawn from reaction zone continuously. In addition, salt rectification of water constituent is possible using aqueous solutions of metal chlorides to release hydrogen chloride which is returned into reaction zone. In this case, reactants should be fed in stoichiometric quantities. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process. 3 cl, 1 dwg , 1 tbl
