FIELD: mining. SUBSTANCE: carbide insert of rock cutting tool has front trapezoidal face, central protrusion and recess. Central protrusion is located on front face and is wedge-shaped in cross-section. Recess is located on the front face of the insert and opened towards its end face. Recess is located symmetrically relative to the insert longitudinal axis. Length of cutting edge formed by crossing of faces of central protrusion equals not less than 0.1 and not more than 0.5 of the insert length. Recess walls and respective faces of the central protrusion form two additional wedge-shaped protrusions. Cutting edge of each additional protrusion is located at an angle to the insert longitudinal axis, with angle vertex directed towards the main cutting edge. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 6 cl, 6 dwg
