FIELD: radiolocation; recognition of phantom targets nonlinearly reflecting radar signals. SUBSTANCE: device sounds a target to be identified by a single-frequency signal. Because the target has nonlinear characteristics, it reflects the signal at the sounding signal frequency as well as at the harmonics whose levels characterize the target type and, therefore, represent identification signs. To increase the noise immunity of the identification sign the base-frequency reflection is not processed. To ensure invariancy of the identification sign to distance of the target (m - x) spectral harmonics are normalized to the second harmonic. Spectral reflection characteristic of a phantom target is used as an identification sign. EFFECT: facilitated recognition of targets on the background of underlying surfaces regardless of target radial velocities and noise level at the sounding signal frequency. 1 dwg
