FIELD: heat exchange device used in diaphragm technique for thermostating media being treated and products of diaphragm separation; alcohol producing apparatus for condensation processes in gas-containing system. SUBSTANCE: heat-transfer agent is fed via branch pipe 6 to housing 1 where it flows first through upper passage between ferrules 2 and 3 as far as partition 4 at high velocity and then it enters lower passage through branch pipe 5 where reduction in speed is compensated for by increased velocity of heating surface, after which it is discharged through branch pipe 7. Heat is removed from outer surface of pipe due to natural convection of liquid contained in volume of starting water reservoir of diaphragm plant. When heat exchanger is used as condenser, cooled liquid is fed to passages of heat exchanger and steam is supplied to outer surface of heat exchanger from below; during interaction with cooled walls 2 and 3, steam is condensed and condensate flows down in form of film. Having come to additional ferrule, liquid flow gets broken and flows down this ferrule, thus freeing the sections of outer wall of heat exchanger for interaction with steam medium.
