SUBSTANCE: fibre-optic gyrocompass uses a turnable, turnable position pickup and a fibre-optic gyro having a sensitive circuit in the form of a coil of optical fibre installed on the turnable in such a manner that the axis of gyro sensitivity to spinning, being a normal with respect to the plane of coil turns, would be orthogonal with respect to the axis of rotation of the turnable. The specific feature of the device is the fact that the coil in installed on the turnable in such a manner that its axis of magnetic sensitivity located in the plane of coil turns coincides with the axis of rotation of the turnable. Due to the fact that in the process of measurements the zero signal component of the fibre-optic gyrocompass determined by the external magnetic field remains constant and does not distort the dependence of the intelligence signal of the fibre-optic gyrocompass on the angle of turn of the turnable, the accuracy of gyrocompassing is enhanced.
