FIELD: pollution abatement. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical cleaning of solid surfaces and air inside premises and also removing mercury impurities from surface of household objects. Method consists in application onto contaminated surfaces and mercury concentration sites of 5-15% aqueous solutions of cupric sulfate and potassium iodide (in weight ratio from 1:1.5 to 1: 2.5) or dispersions of sorbing materials (e.g., sawdust) impregnated with indicated solutions. Treated surfaces are additionally covered with aqueous solution of sodium thiosulfate and oxalic acid. EFFECT: optimized reagent consumption. 4 cl
