FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the synthesis of macromolecular paramagnetic compounds used for magnetic resonance image making. Macromolecular paramagnetic compound of the general formula MM-(L-Ch-PM)m where: MM - polysaccharide residue taken from the group consisting of dextran, hydroxyethylstarch and glycogen; L - binding group that is amino acid residue; Ch - residue of bifunctional chelating agent - aminopolycarboxylic acid; PM - paramagnetic metal ion chelated by Ch; m - positive number to obtain molecular mass of macromolecular paramagnetic compound up to 2 mln; bond MM-L is ester linkage and bond Ch-L - amide linkage. Invention relates to method of preparing above mentioned compound, diagnostic contrasting agent and method of preparing the diagnostic contrasting agent also.
