FIELD: electrolytic aluminium production. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at reducing harmful effect of operation of replacing worked out baked anodes in electrolyzers leading to arising longitudinal and transversal horizontal currents in metal. Method consists in successively replacing anodes located on opposite sides from longitudinal axis of electrolyzer. In this case, daily number of replaced anodes is multiple of 2, each following anode from an anode pair being taken out of anode array zone located on opposite side from longitudinal axis of electrolyzer, whereas time interval between their replacement is minimal. This enables carrying out the process at lower magnitudes of interpole distance. EFFECT: reduced power consumption without increasing effort on anode replacement and other operations. 2 cl
