METHOD OF DETERMINATION OF EXTERIOR ORIENTATION ELEMENTS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: photogrammetry, applicable at renovation of topographic maps. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in referencing of the photograph to the topographic map, selection on the photograph and map of three pairs of the respective points, of which the points at least of one pair are selected on contour lines, preliminary determination of the values of terrain photograph orientation elements, selection of one more point on the additionally identified line of the topographic map and measurement of its coordinates, projection of this point on the photographic map with the use of the preliminarily obtained elements of photograph orientation, selection of the nearest point on the respective line of the photograph, measurement of its coordinates and calculation according to the coordinates of the second, third and obtained fourth pair of points of the specified elements of photograph orientation. With the aim of automation of the procedure of determination of orientation elements additional operations are used in the method in measurement of sequences of the points coordinates of photograph identified lines, comparison of the coordinates of the point projected on one photograph with the coordinates of the points of the photograph additional line, and analytical selection of the nearest point of this line to the point that was projected on the photograph.
