METHOD DETERMINING ELEMENTS OF ORIENTATION OF TERRAIN PICTURE Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: photogrammetry, updating of digital maps of localities, solution of various photogrammetric problems. SUBSTANCE: in correspondence with method four reference points of which at least two points are located on contour lines are selected on terrain picture. Points approximately corresponding to selected reference points are found on digital map of locality. Elements of orientation are defined more exactly by coordinates of three pairs of points on digital map of locality and on terrain picture. By coordinates of one of points of picture located on contour line position of auxiliary point corresponding to it on digital map of locality is determined. If obtained point does not match contour line of digital map of locality this point is transferred on to point of contour line spaced away form obtained point by minimum distance. Elements of orientation of terrain picture are made more precise by new combination of points. EFFECT: capability to process photographs having no characteristic points on details of photopictures, enhanced productivity of determination of elements of orientation. 3 dwg
