FIELD: purification of sewage. SUBSTANCE: pH of sewage is adjusted to 6.5-14.0. Then ferrate of alkali metal or ferrate of alkaline-earth metal in its mixture with water soluble salt of metal of IV group of Periodic Table (e. g. zirconium oxychloride) is added. Quantity of said water soluble salt is 0.01-1 g/l. Proposed method is available for purification of sewage which comprises ion of metals being chosen of VIII, Ib, IIb, IVa, Va, VIa groups of Periodic Table and lanthanides and actinides.
