FIELD: water treatment. SUBSTANCE: water is treated via passage of electric current between electrodes immersed into solution, electrode voltage maintained corresponding the following inequality: u<ud+uov+Δu where ud is decomposition potential, uov overpotential on electrodes, and Δu losses in electrodes and contacts. Temperature of electrodes is no higher than that of solution, the latter temperature ensuring saturation state of solution with initial concentration of hardness salts. These salts are then crystallized, precipitated, and removed. Electrode temperature is controlled by introducing cooling stream into electrode body through special channels. EFFECT: optimized procedure. 2 cl, 1 dwg
