FIELD: material crushing equipment. SUBSTANCE: this relates to thermomechanical crushing of solid matter and can be used in various branches of industry for crushing artificial and other mineral formations in reconstruction of operating enterprises and in other cases. High efficiency is achieved basically due to intensified crushing process and positive removal of melt from heating zone without reduction of surface heating intensity. According to method, material surface is heated up to creation of melt, then heating pattern is displaced and melt is subjected to pulsing action of gaseous medium. In that, heating is performed by electric arc flame, and additionally introduced into gaseous medium stream is solid matter. Device has body, two rod-type electrodes located at acute angle relative to each other and connected to power source, unit for producing pulses of kinetic energy carrier, line for delivery of kinetic energy carrier to work face, regulator of period of delivering kinetic energy carrier.
