FIELD: instrumentation, contactless systems tracking angular position of object. SUBSTANCE: invention specifically refers to angular deviation of mould in process of continuous casting of metals during its reciprocating movement. Enhanced accuracy of measurement of angular deviations of object is achieved by means of gear incorporating radiation source, prismatic reflector made fast to object, optical unit, position-sensitive unit and signal processing unit. Optical unit is fabricated in the form of telescope, cylindrical raster is mounted between position-sensitive unit manufactured in the form of mask with sector cut and photodiode placed in sequence. Distance L from cylindrical raster to position-sensitive unit is set in agreement with dependence L = У1/2Г(У), where L is distance from cylindrical raster to position-sensitive unit, У1 is shift of light line on position-sensitive unit; U is magnification of telescope; (Φ) is maximally possible angle of deviation of controlled object.
