FIELD: boiler plant of motor ships and gas-turbine ships characterized by varying loads of engine after which waste-heat boilers are installed. SUBSTANCE: method consists in setting the required level of water for different amount of waste-heat boilers working in steam-generating mode which corresponds to maximum level of water; then number of boilers working in steam-generating mode is checked; in case of change of this number, preset level of water in separator is changed. System is provided with unit for setting the level of water in steam separator to whose inlets gas temperature sensors indicating the gas temperature at waste-heat boiler inlet are connected, its outlet being connected with adjusting valve.
