FIELD: cryogenic engineering; helium and air separating installations and natural gas processing plants. SUBSTANCE: cleaning of cryogenic agent is carried out by successive cooling of cryogenic agent under cleaning by separated liquid fraction of admixture and clean cryogenic agent, condensing the admixture, separating liquid fraction of admixture and subsequent freezing out of remaining admixture in the process of cooling with clean cryogenic agent. Cooling of cryogenic agent by separated liquid fraction of admixture Is carried out to temperature of T=(1.1-1.4)To where To is temperature of separation of liquid fraction of admixture. After freezing out of admixture, cleaned cryogenic agent is filtered. Method can include secondary separation of liquid fraction of admixture at lower temperature level, adiabatic expansion or bypassing of clean cryogenic agent delivered for cooling the cryogenic agent under cleaning and additional stage of cleaning when separation of admixture components in form of output product is required.
