FIELD: water preparation and heat supply systems, continuous measurement of optical density of travelling liquid medium carrying suspended substances. SUBSTANCE: given meter includes source of probing radiation, flow dish and container coupled to photometer and calculator. It is equipped with second channel of probing radiation which optical base is different from that of first channel. Values of optical density of liquid medium and value of optical density of layer of contaminants are calculated with due account of radiation intensity across each of two inlets, across outlets of first and second channels of probing radiation correspondingly and coefficient K equal to relation of value of optical base of second channel to value of optical base of first probing channel.
