FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: photometre consists of a light source, a narrow tube where a sample is put, with an axis directed along the initial beam of the light source, and an inner surface which absorbs light from the source, and a radiation detector. When scattered photons change their direction of motion, they meet the wall of the tube and are absorbed by the walls. Most of the detected photons will be ballistic photons and will satisfy the modified Beer-Lambert Law.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of determining coefficient of extinction in a photometre.
