TRAVELLING WAVE TUBE POWER AMPLIFIER Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2085022 C1

FIELD: microwave transmitting devices. SUBSTANCE: power amplifier has traveling wave tube 1 whose cathode is connected to anode through voltage regulator 3, gate electrode, to cathode through controlled switch 8 whose inputs are connected to output of voltage regulator 2 and to output of cutoff voltage supply 7. Cathode heater is connected to voltage regulator 4; slow-wave system of tube is connected to zero-potential bus and its collectors, to voltage regulator 6. Inserted between cathode and zero-potential bus is voltage regulator 5 of slow-wave system. Inputs of buffer register 9 are connected to output power control bus of amplifier and its outputs, to first and second read-only storage units 10 and 11 whose outputs are connected to inputs of first and second digital-to-analog converters 12 and 13. Output of converter 12 is connected to first input of error amplifier 14 whose second input is connected to output of voltage divider 15 inserted between tube anode and zero-potential bus. Output of converter 13 is connected to control input of error amplifier 5.1 of voltage regulator 5. EFFECT: facilitated output voltage control and on-line adjustment in magnitude which is most essential when using power amplifier in multichannel repeaters. 1 dwg
