FIELD: metallurgy, namely rolling of square steel bars in rhombic roll grooved passes of three-high stands with use of intermediate or leader-finishing roll passes. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of sharply raising upwards end portion of rolled piece by means of lower output guide on upper horizon level of rolls in leader pass; then bending rolled piece in reverse direction due to descending its sharply bent end portion by gravity onto roller table. When rolled piece is out of roll pass said rhombic cross section piece is tilted by 90 degrees by action of gravity of bent portion of its leading end and due to loop formed in its mean portion. Tilted rolled piece is transferred to finishing roll pass to be guided and rolled in opposite direction in finishing pass on lower horizon level of rolls.
