FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves processing metal in ladle and correcting metal temperature by lowering slab into ladle below metal surface; periodically and successively moving slab relative to metal level in ladle during metal cooling process, with length of movement being 0.15-0.4 of maximum slab submersion depth; stopping and holding slab in metal after each motion stroke in stationary position for time interval of τ/n, where t is total metal cooling time, min; n is number of periodic motions of slab in metal. During metal cooling, slab is lowered into ladle for maximum depth and upon expiration of predetermined time is withdrawn from ladle.
