FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention concerns fine-blade point tools useful in medical industry and instrumentation engineering. Dental steel smoothers are placed horizontally in 12-piece packets and heated in vacuum 10-2 mm Hg to 975 C with rate 200 C/min, held for 5 min, and cooled in oil. 25 min later tool is heated to 45 C at 10-2 mm Hg for 90 min. The thus treated tool is characterized with tensile strength 1460-1470 MPa, H0,49 510-520, and its deformation within length 180 m does not exceed 45-60 mcm. EFFECT: improved performance characteristics. 5 cl, 2 dwg, 1 tbl
