FIELD: heat-power engineering. SUBSTANCE: at least one compound containing active component of dust is heated within shortest period of time to temperature exceeding equilibrium decomposition temperature by at least 10 C; but this temperature is below the point at which active components are molten or become inactive. Then cooling is effected within shortest period of time to temperature exceeding initial dew point by no more than 30 C. Thus, water contained in fuel and passing into waste gases during combustion, as well as corroding toxic agents are chemically bound in crystals formed from fractions of dust or ash. Dust thus formed remains dry and powder-like after water has not reached initial dew point and heat-transfer surfaces do not corrode any longer. They remain dry because there is no condensation of liquid any longer and there is no silting or deposition on heat-transfer surfaces. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 15 cl, 3 dwg
