FIELD: instruments. SUBSTANCE: laser beam is directed towards measured surface through light focusing unit. Light which is reflected from surface is received by projection optical system and is transmitted through optical unit, which converts light spot into flat light beam, into photodetector, which is connected to electronic generator of distance signal. Optical matching of optical axis of focusing unit and sensitive surface of photodetector which light-sensitive elements are located in position which is perpendicular to conversion plane of optical unit. Optical axis of focusing unit is directed towards bisector of maximal angle between normal directions to surface to be measured. EFFECT: increased precision. 2 cl, 3 dwg
