SUBSTANCE: device has ring gauge 1 made of optically transparent material and secured on rigid mandrel 2 installed for rotation about its axis, scale 3 fixed relative to ring gauge along direction of reflected ray, piston ring 4 to be tested being placed in ring gauge, and light source 5. Light source 5 is installed to provide incidence of ray onto outer cylindrical surface of ring gauge 1 and reflection of ray from outer surface of piston ring.
