FIELD: heat treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at producing uniform distribution of radial pressure and required resilience when manufacturing cut circular piston and sealing rings with nonparallel end surfaces. Such aim is accomplished by using specially designed device with a mounting enabling manufacturing piston rings with nonparallel end surfaces when subjected to heat setting with uniform distribution of radial pressure. Piston rings to be thermally treated are assembled in pairs into packet on the mounting. The latter is made in the form of a cylinder with two longitudinal cuts located symmetrically near locks and backs of the rings. In each pair, rings are arranged over inclined end surface with inversely positioned locks. In this case, longitudinal cuts in cross-section are shaped as segments with sagitta equal to 1/5 diameter of cylindrical part of the mounting. EFFECT: facilitated operation. 2 dwg
