SUBSTANCE: method comes to determining speed of pressure rise formed by active burning of fuel in combustion chamber by amplitude and duration of vibration pulses measured by vibration pickup installed in zone of cylinder under checking. Vibration pickup is installed on surface of seat of main bearing lower shell with displacement from crankshaft centerline in direction of its rotation through 15-20 degrees from axis of cylinder-piston group. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities.
