SUBSTANCE: additive is prepared by reacting alkylphenol with calcium hydroxide in hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of ethylene glycol and water and subsequently treating the resulting alkyl calcium phenolate with carbon dioxide and sulfide the resulting product with elementary sulfur in the presence of calcium hydroxide and ethylene glycol. Process for preparing calcium alkyl phenolate is carried out in two stages. At first stage alkyl phenolate having 8 to 18 carbon atoms in alkyl radical and ethylene glycol are reacted with calcium hydroxide in hydrocarbon solvent at 70-120 C, and at second stage the resulting mixed calcium salt of alkyl phenol and ethylene glycol is treated with alkyl phenol having 4 to 40 carbon atoms in alkyl radical at 140-250 C.
