FIELD: excavating machinery. SUBSTANCE: this can be used in mining, construction and other industries. To reduce vertical loads brought to bear on metal structures, bucket-wheel excavator has undercarriage, turntable on which installed is boom with conveyor. Mounted in head part of boom is vertical bucket-wheel with drive unit and intermediate bin. Bucket-wheel is provided with cylindrical ring with flange with drive unit mounted on it. Width of boom at its base is larger than width of boom at its head part. Boom head part is arranged inside bucket-wheel. Sides of intermediate bin are connected with cylindrical ring by means of connecting members and are positioned for possible movement together with connecting members. Bucket-wheel is installed on boom by means of axle located in connecting members and has mechanism for adjustment of its incline angle relative to longitudinal axis of boom. This adjustment mechanism is made in the form of hydraulic power cylinders having their one end installed on boom, and other end installed on bucket-wheel. In process of digging, bucket-wheel also functions as boom fulcrum and is installed in perpendicular to its longitudinal axis which creates new force-applying scheme at which loads are not transmitted to metal structures of boom.
