FIELD: mechanical engineering, shipbuilding and aviation; protection of bodies of revolution against wear. SUBSTANCE: application of polymer composition is effected by rolling the body of revolution on blank of coating on backing whose size is equal to developed surface of body of revolution at specific pressure sufficient for forcing out excess of polymer composition. Blank of coating is made at constant temperature by applying two layers of polymer composition on backing at intermediate stand. Thickness of second layer is lesser than that of first layer and is more than difference in thicknesses of coating of body and first layer. Holding time for second layer is dictated by time of loss of fluidity of polymer composition. Holding time for first layer is equal to difference between holding time until tack-free and holding time for second layer. Device for realization of this method is provided with contact surfaces located at clearance. One surface is made in form of flat undistorted surface. Device is also provided with templates mounted along axis of body of revolution to ensure required clearance. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 3 cl, 4 dwg
