FIELD: mechanical engineering; ship building. SUBSTANCE: method and device are used for sealing of cavities made in rubbery material under conditions of work in liquid media and at high values of static and dynamic loads. Shaped device in form of plug made of hard polymeric material forms labyrinth seal along with cavity as a result of sealing. In this case, plug body is provided with hollow open towards cavity being sealed. Plug body has circular groove on external surface. Method enables reliable sealing of rubbery material and polymeric plug. Method includes formation of seal housing, application of adhesive layer on conjugated surfaces, and filling of circular groove. Method also contains flush mounting of plug with application of pressing-in force to it till plug is fixed in any spatial position. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 1 dwg
