FIELD: shipbuilding; construction engineering and other industries. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in securing rubber plates from 40 to 80 mm thick to curvilinear metal surfaces. Prior to applying plates, they are cut according to required pattern, then adhesive is applied to surface and rubber plates are laid on layer of adhesive and are kept in pressed state till hardening of adhesive. Plates are laid at butt joints and after pressing them to metal surface, force is applied to end faces of second and all other subsequent plates for coupling the plates at clearance not exceeding 0.5 mm. End faces of adjacent plates are machined in pairs for tight faying. In specific cases, areas of cut of plates are sealed-up after cutting by means of composition on base of loaded urethane. Repeated impact load is applied to end faces of plates being mounted. For pressing the plates, special bosses are mounted on metal surface and cuts are made in plates for receiving these bosses; after mounting, these cuts are sealed-up by means of composition on base of loaded urethane. EFFECT: possibility of obtaining homogeneous characteristics of coat over entire area; reduced labor consumption and usage of expensive materials. 4 cl, 6 dwg
