FIELD: transport engineering; electrical equipment for battery-fed vehicles. SUBSTANCE: proposed method provides checking of value, polarity and time of existence of voltage difference of two sections of storage battery, shaping of change-over signal and changing over battery sections when shaped signal appears. Novelty is checking of above indicated values and shaping of signal. Device for implementing the method consists of contactors, diodes, two voltage relays, capacitor and time relay. New elements are voltage relays, capacitor anytime relay. Alternate change-over of battery sections provides uniform discharge of battery. Alternate use of battery sections as reference voltage source makes it possible to eliminate influence of ambient temperature onto battery state checking process, as temperature provides equal influence on voltage of both sections.
