FIELD: metallurgy, particular, methods of control of cooling of metallurgical furnaces; applicable, for instance, in detection of damage to tightness and integrity of air tuyeres of blast furnaces. SUBSTANCE: the offered method includes monitoring of condition of coolant and furnace gases, inflow of furnace gases to cooled hollow of damaged cooling member and, as a result formation of gas-liquid mixture, and registering of gas phase in outgoing pipeline of coolant and disconnection, in this case, of coolant supply in pressure pipeline of damaged cooling member. When pressure difference between coolant in cooling system and furnace gases exceeds the preset level, and gas phase appears in cooled hollow of damaged cooling member, provision is made to reduce pressure of coolant upon completion of tapping of heat products by single reduction of coolant pressure in its pressure pipeline by steps, with rate of change per 4.0% of current value and change interval of charge supply into furnace up to registering gas phase in outgoing pipeline of damaged cooling member. Reduction of coolant pressure is limited by value of 25.0-30.0% of current value and carried out periodically every 2-7 tappings of heat products. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl
