FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: engine has cylinder block in which one of cylinders has displacement greater than that of other cylinder, pistons, air intake device communicating with first cylinder, exhaust device, first fuel supply source for delivery of fuel into second cylinder, combustion chamber, locking arrangement. Second piston has head displaced relative to head of first piston and coupled with the latter through part of head periphery and size of which in axial direction is smaller than distance between piston heads in the same direction. Combustion chamber is formed by heads of pistons and side wall of second cylinder. Head of second piston is radially displaced relative to adjacent wall of second cylinder forming clearance in between. Displacement is made to retard passage of gas between side wall and head of second piston. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 46 cl, 23 dwg
