FIELD: instrumentation. SUBSTANCE: average value of signal is found in each half-period of one polarity of voltage, obtained value is memorized and is compared in next half-period with result of preceding measurement of same parameter determining moment of transition of boundary of phases by value of its increment. Alternating voltage has frequency fv multiple of frequency of network voltage fn and equal to fv=fn/2n, where n ≥ 1 is integral number equal to n ≈ 6•fn•R•Cl, where Cl is self-capacitance of communication line; R is value of resistance of resistor through which alternating voltage is fed to electrode. Device for implementation of method has synchronous detector which input is connected to electrode and which output is linked to integrator in which first electron key is connected in parallel to integrating capacitance. First electron key is connected with output to storage cell through second electron key. Output of storage cell is connected to input of threshold single-shot multivibrator. One of outputs of pulse former is connected to controlling input of synchronous detector and input of source of alternating voltage, second output of it is connected to controlling input of first electron key, third output of pulse former is coupled to controlling input of second electron key. Scanning electrode has stepped shaped with area of section of lower butt 10-15 times lesser than in center section, has flat butt surfaces facing downwards perpendicular to axis of electrode. Side surface of lower part of electrode carries layer of electric insulation. EFFECT: expanded measurement range, increased noise immunity. 4 cl, 4 dwg
