LEVEL INDICATOR FOR LOOSE RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

Abstract RU 2171451 C2

FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: level indicator has detector of gamma radiation, information processing unit in the form of computer, units of discrete-digital and pulse-digital conversion fitted with controller, preamplifier with signal former. Detector has drive for movement along hopper and is connected via preamplifier with signal former to unit of pulse-digital conversion. Unit of discrete-digital conversion is connected to drive of detector and controller is coupled to computer. Computer processes scanning data array to which divisions of scale of hopper correspond with determination of point of maximum bend corresponding to level of material in hopper and of values of level depending on time. Proposed design makes it possible to diminish noticeably effect on layers adjacent to scanned layer and provides for thin-layer scanning over entire height of hopper. Proposed level indicator is characterized by high precision of determination of level of loose radioactive materials.
