FIELD: measurement technology; nondestructive tests of solid materials. SUBSTANCE: to determine strength of specimen in the form of carbon filament built up of equal-length elementary carbon filaments, electrical resistance of carbon filament and breaking load of elementary fiber are measured. Breaking load of carbon filament is found from equation P=Pi•Ri/R, where Pi is breaking load of elementary fiber; R is carbon filament resistance; Ri is elementary fiber resistance.
