SUBSTANCE: radar sensor has synchronizing unit, modulator, modulating-frequency generator, first directional coupler, phase shifter, transmitting antenna, receiving antenna, first adjustable attenuator, band filter, first mixer, local oscillator, second directional coupler, preamplifier, second adjustable attenuator, second and third mixers, intermediate-frequency amplifier, synchronous detector unit, low-frequency amplifier, automatic gain control circuit, single- and modulation unit, and functions to emit continuous, periodically phase-modulated signal at short radio-pulse modulation periods , radio pulses being shaped from modulating-frequency generator signals; signal frequency at first mixer output is changed into first intermediate frequency; reference signal of first intermediate frequency is shaped across third mixer output from transmitter generator and local oscillator signals; continuous Doppler-frequency signals and short, delayed radio pulses of second intermediate frequency are separated across second mixer output; Dopper-frequency signal picked off low-frequency amplifier arrives at radar sensor output and also is used to control first and second adjustable attenuators through automatic gain control circuit; modulating-frequency generator signal is shifted through Doppler frequency in single-band modulation unit and used as reference signal for synchronous detector unit; radio pulses picked off intermediate-frequency amplifier output go to synchronous detector unit wherein they are converted into delayed video pulses passed to sensor quadrature outputs, their amplitude being modulated by Doppler frequency depending on phase modulation frequency of emitted signal and on target speed.
