FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: pulse-doppler radar altimetric system is designed for use in onboard navigation systems of aircrafts. The system emits and receives short packets of radio pulses in direction of an underlying surface, which are simultaneously received by three identical receiving channels, converted into bipolar video pulses that fluctuate by amplitude with frequency determined by Doppler shift of signal frequency, digitised, saved in a RAM, processed by a calculating device, and components of the vector of actual speed are determined by maximum of mutually correlating function of spatial signals distanced from each other from the underlying surface of the signals accepted by spaced antennas located on an aircraft, with account of geometry of the antenna system.
EFFECT: expanded range of measurement and increased accuracy of measurement of components of a vector of actual speed of an aircraft.
