SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar and can be used in self-contained on-board radar aircraft landing control systems. The pulsed-phase radar altimeter system employs a direct method of measuring Doppler frequency by counting the number of periods thereof over a given time. The sign of the Doppler frequency is determined using the fact that the sign of the phase difference of quadrature components changes when the sign of the Doppler frequency changes. The pulsed-phase radar altimeter system comprises a discretely controlled microwave generator, a directional coupler, a pulse modulator, a phase-changer, a controlled attenuator, a circulator, a low-noise high frequency amplifier, a phase detector, a video amplifier, an analogue-to-digital converter, buffer random-access memory, a synchroniser, a computing device, an exchange controller, a gain adjustment unit, an attenuation adjustment unit, a current source, controlled voltage, a three-beam transceiving antenna, an antenna switch, an antenna switch control unit and a displacement computer. The listed devices are made and connected to each other in a certain manner.
EFFECT: broader functional capabilities owing to measurement of velocity vector components.
