FIELD: detection and identification of alpha, beta, gamma, proton and X-ray radiation against the background of accompanying neutron radiation to be estimated in radiation monitoring systems. SUBSTANCE: detector has a sensor and an electronic signal processing unit. The sensor is made in the form of series-connected scintillator (sensitive to alpha, beta, gamma, proton and X-ray radiation and having a thickness completely absorbing this radiation), light conduit and a photomultiplier tube; the light conduit is made of hydrogen-containing scintillator sensitive to neutrons. The electronic signal processing unit uses a time-selection circuit which counts up the number of pulses of ionizing radiation and neutrons, providing for their separate and total estimation.
