FIELD: technology for detecting fast and heat neutrons, and also gamma-radiation, possible use in stationary and portable devices for finding fission and radioactive materials.
SUBSTANCE: in accordance to invention scintillation neutron detector contains scintillation block indicator, including plastic scintillator for registration of fast neutrons, glass scintillator based on cerium-activated 6Li-silicate glass for registration of heat neutrons, light-reflecting mirror and photo-receiving device in form of photo-diode recorder or multi-channel photo-multiplexer, and block for electronic processing of signals. Plastic scintillator is made in form of a prism or cylinder with light-reflecting cover across whole side surface, while scintillator of 6Li silicate glass with cerium is made in form of glass fibers located in longitudinal internal channels of plastic scintillator.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of registration of both fast and heat neutrons with possible use of compact photo-diode devices or multi-channel photo-electronic multiplexers as photo-detectors.
