FIELD: practice of designing and manufacture of radioluminescent radiators based on solid condensed media, applicable in nuclear-pumped lasers. SUBSTANCE: method is based on joint simultaneous conducting of photo- and thermoannealing of radiation- induced defects arising in scintillation and non-scintillation optically transparent media at their interaction with radiation. Wavelength λ of photons accomplishing the photoannealing is selected proceeding from the minimum is heated up to temperature Tn= C(λ)Tph.t, where C(λ) - constant for the given medium selected empirically by minimum of specific power of photoannealing photons and thermoannealing temperature, and Tph.t - medium phase-transition temperature.
