FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in the gas detector, the housing is divided into working and compensation parts by a partition which is not transparent for light and a partition which is transparent for scintillating gas. Fissile material in form of a layer of gas lies in one of the parts of the housing. The walls of the housing are coated on the inside by spectrum-shifting material. Leads from both parts of the housing are in form of identical light guides and there is a light filter in front of the photodetector which transmits optical radiation in the emission wavelength range of the spectrum-shifting material.
EFFECT: reduced attenuation of radiation by the luminescent gas medium when passing through the fibre waveguide on its exposed part and on the part lying outside the exposure zone, low effect of the radio-luminescent signal, reduced restrictions on material of the chamber and light guide, matching the optical radiation spectrum of the detector with spectral sensitivity of photodetectors, redued effect of bending of the light guides on the value of the signal transmitted to the photodetector, reduced effect of background radiation.
